Once again, Afton United Methodist Women partnered with the Prison Ministries Fellowship Program to bring Christmas joy to children with incarcerated parents. Members of Afton UMC helped with the project by picking an “angel” from the Angel Tree and then shopping for and wrapping gifts of toys and clothes for the children. A total of fifteen children from nine local families were served this year. Each child also received a note from the incarcerated parent.
In December 2019, Afton UMC women prepared and delivered lovely Christmas baskets filled with a variety of fruits and candies, bright red poinsettias, and a whole lot of Christmas cheer to their dear friends and neighbors who are in need of a little special attention. The Afton women and the recipients of these gifts all reported a blessed time of visitation and Christian fellowship.
